The York Bus Forum held a rally in Parliament Street last Saturday (14/05/16). They were lobbying the City of York Council "Bus Surgery" to say "NO BUS CUTS!". In addition, members of York Bus Forum lobbied the Council over specific routes, particularly routes 10 and 20.
Speakers emphasised the short-sightedness and hidden costs of so-called cost "savings" on buses: Ginnie Shaw spoke about air pollution and the lives that this would damage; John Bibby spoke about mental health issues; and Will Peacock from the York Youth Council spoke about the impact upon child safety, schooling and education.
Nearly 100 signatures were collected on the York Bus Forum petition against ALL bus cuts.
York Bus Forum will be rallying again on Wednesday 18 May at 4.30pm outside West Offices, and will also meet at 6pm on Tuesday 24th May to discuss future campaigning. Details from John Bibby on 01904-330334 or [email protected]
