We need to tackle congestion in York

Whats your Solution?
Picture
Bumper to bumper traffic jams and long tailbacks are a familiar sight on York's roads. A new group called “UnJam York” will campaign for action to be taken to reduce congestion and improve mobility across the city.

UnJam York, which is not affiliated to the council or any political party, intends to highlight York's high levels of air pollution and heavily congested roads. The group has evolved out of the York People’s Congestion Commission, an initiative by the local Green Party in response to the council’s cancellation of a commission of external congestion experts.

Traffic congestion has a significant effect on everyone’s day-to-day lives, affecting road safety, air quality, emergency services and movement around the city. Everyone will have a view on how to improve things. The group will be holding public meetings, beginning in February, to discuss particular aspects affecting congestion and travel in York. They will also be holding public rallies, and asking the council to take action on York's congestion.

Anyone is welcome to join UnJam York. Details for upcoming events will be posted on UnJam’s Facebook page and by our  Twitter account @UnJamYork, as well as on this website.
